Toronto's Picks
The Tea on Pick #6 — Kiki Rice
Toronto went guard. With a backcourt already featuring Mabrey, Allemand, and Sykes, it raised some eyebrows — but Sandy Brondello clearly wanted a developmental point guard she can groom, and Kiki Rice is exactly that. National champion at UCLA, Third-Team All-American, 14.9 points and 4.3 assists per game in her final college season.
Why it works: Rice isn't competing with Mabrey or Allemand for minutes right away — she's learning behind two elite guards while the coaching staff shapes her game. High IQ, efficient, and already a proven winner. The Tempo are building for more than one season.
The ceiling: If Rice develops her perimeter shooting to match her playmaking, she's a future starting point guard in this league. Toronto just locked up their PG of the future at pick #6 — on a rookie deal, no less.
