How She Got Here
The Full Story
Mabrey was selected by Toronto in the expansion draft as Pick #6 — but the Tempo didn't stop there. They brought her back to the table and signed her to a max contract as an unrestricted free agent, locking her in long-term as the face of the franchise. The expansion pick was the door. The UFA deal was the statement.

☕ The Tea
By signing Sykes and Mabrey to max deals, the Tempo just built the "Million Dollar Backcourt." Sykes is the defensive floor that lets Mabrey and Sabally cook on offence. She won the inaugural Unrivaled championship in a brand new environment — she knows how to win fast.

Why She's Here
Harrison gives Toronto a proven, experienced frontcourt presence on day one. With Sabally needing time to develop and the Tempo building out their bigs, Izzy brings 11 years of playoff-tested toughness. She's the glue piece — the veteran who makes the young pieces around her better.
Kia Nurse
7.8 PPG / 2.3 RPG — Chicago Sky 2025
The first Canadian player on the first Canadian WNBA team. Nurse is a veteran guard who brings playoff experience, defensive versatility, and an enormous connection to the Toronto fanbase. A homecoming signing.
Temi Fagbenle
7.4 PPG / 4.9 RPG / 0.9 SPG — Golden State 2025
Harvard-educated, Harvard-smart. Fagbenle is a switchable big who can protect the rim, rebound, and face up on offence. A 2017 WNBA champion, she brings championship DNA to the Tempo's frontcourt.
Extensions
Julie Allemand
"The Belgian Conductor"
Allemand re-signed with Toronto after being selected in the expansion draft, locking in the veteran point guard who anchors the Tempo's system. Her extension secures the floor general Sandy Brondello's offence is built around.
Under Contract
These contracts transferred directly from their previous teams as part of the expansion process — no negotiation required.
Nyara Sabally
"The Interior Anchor"
Her rookie-scale contract transferred directly from the Liberty. Sabally is effectively the anchor of this roster — her contract terms were already set, giving Toronto a cornerstone at controlled cost.
Aaliyah Nye
"The Crimson Spark"
As a recent draft pick for the Aces, her rookie contract moved over to Toronto. The Tempo get a young, high-upside wing on a rookie deal — exactly the kind of cost-controlled depth a cap-heavy roster needs.
Training Camp Contracts
Ten training camp invites plus 2026 draft pick Kiki Rice. They'll compete for roster spots when camp opens — not guaranteed, but they're in the building.

Exclusive Rights
Adja Kane
"The Parisian Prodigy"
Kane holds exclusive rights status — Toronto controls her rights and she can only negotiate with the Tempo. No other team can make an offer. The Tempo hold all the cards here.
Roster Status
20 players in the building heading into training camp — 5 UFA signings (incl. Kia Nurse — first Canadian Tempo player), 1 extension, 2 transferred rookie deals, 1 rookie contract (Kiki Rice), 10 training camp invites, 1 ERFA. Camp players compete for the remaining spots before the May 16 opener.
Who Makes the Cut?
Four expansion picks know this team. Two international wildcards — Balogun and Juškaitė — are the ones to watch. Sandy Brondello will sort it out.
